How much will your services cost me?  After our deposit, Medical Bill Consultants, LLC will collect a percentage (%) of what we save you.  This percentage is off the total savings to we have found on your bill.  This does not include any hospital account credits, discounts, adjustments, settlements, and implicit/explicit savings.

If your medical charges are correct, and your insurance company has paid it properly, we will refund your deposit less any costs we incurred.

How long does this process take?  Auditing one’s bill depends upon the cooperation of the hospital and/or the medical provider.  So that makes it rather difficult to give an exact time frame.  Once all the bills and records are received, an audit could be completed in 7 to 10 days.

How do I pay you?  Payment can be made directly thru the link on our web site.

What do you need from me?  Signed releases, hospital and medical bills, and if you have medical insurance, any information you might have about it.

Why do I need to supply you with my insurance book?  In order for us to make sure that your insurance company had correctly paid your claims, we will need to review your plan and policy to see if there are any limitations that might be involved.  Your book will be returned to you immediately after the audit with a report of our findings.

Why do I have to sign the forms you sent me?  Your signature is necessary in order for us to 1) accurately review your case and 2) receive the correct information necessary to do this.

These forms signed only in the spots indicated should allow us to obtain the medical information directly from your providers.

What’s the purpose of these release forms?  Their purpose is as follows for each form:

  • Itemized statement – should allow us to receive a line by line change description of the services you received during your hospital stay.  This enables us to do our line-by-line analysis.

  • Insurance Release – if you don’t have copies of what your insurance company has paid on your behalf, this form will allows us to obtain these records.

  • Medical Records – this form should allow us to obtain copies of your medical records relating to your care.  The hospital might require their own form which we will forward to you if received.  These records will allow us to verify that the charges you incurred where actually received.

Why do I need to the client information sheet?  This form gives me the information all in one place to call and make inquiries with your providers on your behalf.

If I don’t have any of my medical bills, could I still hire you?  Yes, we will request them for you from your medical providers.  All you need to do is just give us the name, address, and phone number of the provider and we will be able to get them.  There should not be a charge for the itemized bills.

Why can’t I do this myself?  The common layperson doesn’t understand the medical terminology and the complexity of the rules.  They also don’t have the time or desire to actually want to review.

What kinds of errors do you find on medical bills?  The errors that we have found are multiple billings, unbundled charged, undocumented chargers, non-billable charges, and incorrect diagnosis and procedure codes.

What is you don’t find any errors or overcharges?  That would be rare.  However, if none are found, we will gladly refund your deposit less any costs that we incurred to obtain the medical records necessary to conduct our audit.

Can my insurance company retaliate?  They shouldn’t.  In fact, most welcome the fact that we are saving them money.

Can the hospital deny me care?  By law a hospital cannot deny you treatment.  Instead of acknowledging that they, the hospital, made any errors and/or overcharges, they might try to give you a discount or reduce the bill.

Who get the refund check, me or Medical Bill Consultants?  If you have already paid your bill, it is preferred that you receive the check first and then pay us.  However, we could receive the check and then pay you.  After our get started fee is received, we will then negotiate our total fee based upon each hospital stay’s bill.

Can I cancel our agreement if I’m not satisfied?  Before you cancel we hope that you will talk to us.  Patient is requested on both your part and ours as the hospital and/or medical providers don’t usually respond as quickly as we would like.

Is everything kept confidential?    Yes.  We follow the rules, regulations and guidelines of HIPAA. Nothing will be releases unless you advise us to share it with someone.

Could my employer find out what I’m doing?  No, we will keep all your information confidential.

What is my employer funds my health insurance?  This type of plan is called a “self-insured” plan.  We might have to work with them, but most generally use another agency or a TPA (third party administrator) to process the medical / hospital claims.  Your company might even welcome the fact that we are saving them money that they might not have been aware of.

How many years can your review address?  Generally we can go back up to two years.  There is the possibility we could go back even further if you are still paying on the bill as it qualifies as an open, active, and current account.

Do you stand behind your review of my bills?   We will perform a complete review of all bills received to the best of our ability.  Each denial on a bill is backed up with the source used to make the denial determination.

Is your fee tax deductible?  We are not accountants or CPA’s.  You should contact your tax consultants for this answer.

Do I need an attorney?  It is not necessary to obtain legal counsel, however, that choice is up to you.  Our findings will be useful to an attorney should a lawsuit develop.
